A few short months ago, Sandie and I selected a new color to represent our Sandstorm brand. We wanted a color that felt upbeat and contemporary, so we selected a beautiful turquoise that reminded us of past Carribean vacations we had both taken. We integrated the new color into our logo, business papers and brand spankin’ new website – we were ready to take on 2010 with renewed optimism and energy!
So Imagine our delight when we read that Pantone, the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, recently announced PANTONE® 15-5519 Turquoise, “an inviting, luminous hue”, as the color of the year for 2010. Their press release states that this color combines “the serene qualities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green, and evokes thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and a languorous, effective escape from the everyday troubles of the world, while at the same time restoring our sense of wellbeing.”
We’re feeling as proud as little turquoise peacocks that we were so on-target in selecting 2010’s color of the year to represent our company. Was this a result of our uncanny ability to anticipate trends or a happy accident? Either way, we’re thinking we should fly to the Carribean to celebrate!
